Privacy policy
Last updated 23 October 2026.
Halftonik ("we", "us") makes software for print and embroidery shops. This policy explains how we handle personal information, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.
Two kinds of information
About our customers. When a shop signs up, we collect the names, email addresses and sign-in details of the people who use it, the shop's business details, and billing details. We're responsible for this information.
About our customers' customers. Shops keep their own customers' names, contact details, orders, artwork and messages in Halftonik. The shop decides what's kept and why, and is responsible for it. We store and process it only to run the service for that shop, and never use it for anything else. If you're a shop's customer, contact the shop first about your information.
What we collect
- Account details: name, email, password (stored only scrambled) and two-step sign-in settings.
- Business details: shop name, ABN, address, phone and bank details printed on invoices.
- Billing: your subscription and payment history. Card numbers go straight to Stripe; we never see them.
- Usage: sign-in times, the address you connect from, and an activity log of important changes, used to keep accounts secure.
- Support: what you send us when you ask for help.
How we use it
- To run the service, sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To bill you and send tax invoices.
- To send emails about your account, such as sign-in links, receipts and important changes.
- To answer your questions and fix problems.
- To understand which parts of the app are used, so we can improve it.
We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
AI help
When someone in a shop uses AI help, the text or artwork they choose is sent to Amazon Bedrock in Australia to produce a draft. It isn't kept by the AI service or used to train AI. Shops can switch AI help off in Shop details.
Where it's kept, and who else sees it
Information is stored on Amazon Web Services in Sydney, with backups in Melbourne. We use these services to run Halftonik:
- Amazon Web Services (Australia): hosting, storage, email, text messages and AI help.
- Stripe: our subscription billing, and card payments into a shop's own Stripe account. Stripe may process information outside Australia, including in the United States.
- Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks: only when a shop connects one, to send that shop's invoices, customers and payments. These services may process information outside Australia.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep a shop's information while its account is open. When a shop closes its account, we delete its information when asked, except what the law requires us to keep, such as tax records. Backups are replaced over 35 days, so deleted information is gone from them after that.
Keeping it safe
Information is encrypted, each shop's data is separated at the database level, and sign-in uses two-step codes. Read more on our security page. If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we'll tell the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you signed in and secure. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Seeing or correcting your information
You can see and change most of your information in the app. To ask for a copy, a correction or deletion, email support@halftonik.com. We'll reply within 30 days.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, email support@halftonik.com and we'll look into it and reply within 30 days. If you're still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
We'll update this policy when how we handle information changes, and tell shops by email about important changes.
